I grew up with a love of art, architecture and the performing arts. My
life as a ballet dancer was cut short by injury and, after studying IT
at university, I put artistic endeavours on hold to pursue a career, and
then a family.
I was introduced to Kim Mancini when my eldest
daughter started art classes after school. My fingers were itching as I
watched her draw and paint. In 2008 I finally joined a casual painting
class along with a friend for moral support.
I began painting
in acrylics but now much prefer oils for their blendability and slower
drying time. I am drawn to portraiture, and I find that oils suit my
style better.
At this point in my life I have a little more
time to devote to my art and am taking full advantage of it. I think a
measure of my love for painting is that I can truly lose track of time
when there is a paintbrush in my hand.
