10 WEEK PROGRAM



Term 4 - Starts Week Commencing Monday 30th September 2024

Monday -      10am to 12pm
Tuesday -      10am to 12pm
Wednesday - 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Two casual Saturdays a month 12pm - 2pm

If you are unable to make a class, you can do a make up in any of the available sessions within the 10 week term. All terms align with Queensland school terms. 

Week 1-2:
Introduction to Drawing the Portrait in a variety of mediums

  • Bring an A4 size Portrait of choice. Full Front view like a passport image/bust cropped image
  • Ruler and visual diary
  • Classes will include drawing from images and live models/realism to abstract
  • Techniques for cross-hatching, stippling and contour drawing/ blind drawing / Picasso style
Week 3-4:
Intro to Watercolour/ Gouache/ Colour Your Portrait
  • Understanding watercolour/ gouache materials: paper, brushes, paints.
  • Techniques for wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and dry brush.
  • Exploring colour mixing and layering with focus on skin tones
  • Under paint papers and canvases for a series of small works eg. Cards and gifts for family and friends (blind drawing creating in weeks 1 & 2

Week 5-11:
Introduction to Mixed Media in Portrait or Figurative work

  • Using your drawings started in week 1 to create a large scale A3 Artwork or a series of small canvases
  • Using a variety of techniques learned during the year including gelli and lino printing / collage. Create a surface for your portrait or figurative work
  • Continue working each week on your series of small works or on your singular large canvas
  • Introduction to using acrylic and oils over collage and printed surfaces

 

As I will be away from the 8-11th November, I will be running make up classes - Thursday night 14th Nov and Friday morning 14th Nov 

I will also be running this term for 11 weeks at no extra charge.

Last week of classes (Week 11) we will bring a plate to share and BYO Drinks to celebrate the end of year!

 

Each week can include demonstrations, hands-on practice, critiques, and discussions about famous artists working in each medium. This structure provides a comprehensive introduction to various materials and techniques while allowing for exploration and creativity.
